Arden Consulting Engineers were retained by GVRD Parks to study alternatives for water supply to meet peak summer time demand at White Pine Beach Park. The study included an assessment of two different options for extracting water from Sasamat Lake and using it for toilet flushing to supplement two low yield drilled wells as well as included calculation of peak daily and hourly demand. Capital costs for both options were presented in a report to GVRD. The option selected included the design of a water intake structure positioned at the bottom of Sasamat Lake along with a filtration system and UV disinfection to meet the requirements of the Drinking Water Protection Act. The design also included a duplex pumping station system, pneumatic storage tanks and new 75mm HDPE water supply main.
